The Basque Country has an innovation policy that sets the foundations for the integration of the Science-Technology-Company System, which is market demand oriented.

Our Technology Parks have prompted a substantial increase in R+D in the Basque Country that has placed our autonomous region on the path to convergence with the European Union in that field. Thus, the R+D activities carried out by the companies, technology centres, and universities located in the Parks account for 30 percent of the autonomous region’s total expenditure in R+D and 50 percent of company expenditure in R+D.

University One of the main goals of the Network of Parks is to promote collaboration between the Universities and Companies. The Basque Country has four Universities that develop their research and teaching with growing dedication to corporate needs. Universidad del País Vasco. Universidad de Deusto. Universidad de Mondragón. Universidad de Navarra.

The Basque Country's Technology Centers and Research Centers belong to the Innovation Basque Agency (INNOBASQUE). They are installed in the parks and their surrounding area. The Centers are a European benchmark in the field of research and technology transfer, offering companies a broad range of technology services.

The Basque Country’s economic structure relies heavily on the industrial sector and on its significant growth in the added value services linked to that sector. Industry has always powered, and continues to power, economic development.

Industrial innovation

The Basque industrial fabric has undergone a major transformation in only a few years. It has known how to renew traditional products and processes to bring them to the forefront, in line future demands. They have also opened the door to industrial diversification and innovation, towards sectors emerging in new technologies, where the Technology Parks have played a prominent role.
