Science and Technology
Parks in the Knowledge and Digital Economy The 18th World Conference of
the International Association of Science Parks (IASP), organized by the Network of
Technology Parks in the Basque Country (Bilbao, Álava, and San Sebastián), will be held
under the tide "Science and Technology Parks in the Knowledge and Digital
Economy". Bilbao, Álava and San Sebastián, three technology parks that are models
of success, not only for the thrust they have imparted to the Basque Country in advanced
technology, but also because together they make up a true continuum for the generation and
transfer of knowledge in an arca of outstanding environmental quality that embraces
companies, universities, and R&D centres.
Bilbao, home of the Guggenheim Museum of Contemporary Art
and model of a city in movement, will be an excellent site for the first IASP congress of
the new millennium.
The Conference will be held 10-13 june 2001, in the Congress
Palace. One of the themes to treat will be the role of science and technology parks in
relation to the challenges and opportunities fournished by the knowledge society and the
digital economy. Those taking part will include experts of international renown.
The visitor to Bilbao will have a chance to contemplate the
interesting contrasts now to be found in the Basque Country. People with their own
culture and identity, with an ancient language of origin as yet undetermined. Who love
their traditions, but who at the same time are open to the world where business,
technology, and solidarity are concerned. A country with a high quality of life, in which
one may enjoy coast or mountain, esteemed cuisine, splendid golf courses, and much more.
Bilbao
2001. See you there. |
